From the written wordto the final cut
Divan Film carries a story the whole way. We develop and write it, put a crew on the ground wherever it happens, and finish it on our own timeline — edit, color, sound and delivery. One team, one chain of custody, from the first line to the master file.
The idea
A divan is where writing is gathered — and chosen.
In Arabic, a دیوان is both a collected body of writing and the council room where a matter is weighed before it is decided. The name describes the work: we sit with a story before it becomes an image, we follow it into the field, and we re-order it once it has been shot.
Most films aren't lost on the shoot day. They're lost in a draft that never matured, a fixer who couldn't open the door, or a cut that never found its rhythm. We hold all three, so no one hands you a problem and calls it someone else's stage.
Services
Three stages, one crew that carries them.
Writing
From the first line in a research notebook to a locked shooting script. We write in Arabic and English, and we write for the screen — not for the page.
- Story development & archival research
- Documentary scriptwriting
- Treatments & pitch decks
- Narration and voice-over scripts
- Drama & docudrama
- Short-form storytelling for digital
Filming & Field Production
Crews on the ground where the story is. We scout, clear the permits, hire local, and run the shoot — as a full production or as a service arm for a company arriving from abroad.
- Location scouting & filming permits
- Local crews, fixers & translators
- Interview filming & multi-camera setups
- Equipment rental & logistics
- Casting & talent management
- Field production management & risk planning
Post-Production
Rushes come in, a broadcast-ready master goes out. We work to network specs and deliver to the letter of the delivery sheet.
- Offline editing & story assembly
- Color grading & correction
- Sound design, mixing & voice-over recording
- Animation, motion graphics, titles & maps
- Subtitling & localization
- Mastering & broadcast delivery
Coverage
Where we can put a crew.
We work out of Istanbul with a vetted network of local crews and fixers. That means a camera, a permit and someone who knows the street — without flying a full unit in.

“A film is written three times: on the page, in front of the camera, and on the timeline. We stay for all three.”
Process
Seven stages, no surprises.
We work to a written schedule with review points agreed up front. You know which week each version lands, and how many revision rounds you have at every stage.
- 01
Brief
A session to understand the film as you see it: audience, platform, runtime, budget and deadline.
- 02
Research
Sources, archive, testimony, a documented timeline. We don't write a line before we know what it stands on.
- 03
Draft
Treatment first, then a full script — with two revision rounds built into each level.
- 04
Prep
Scouting, permits, crew, kit and a risk plan. Nothing goes to the field half-arranged.
- 05
Shoot
A crew on location with daily rushes, sound reports and a producer you can reach.
- 06
Cut
An offline edit that locks structure and rhythm, then color, sound, motion and subtitles on a picture-locked cut.
- 07
Delivery
Master to spec, platform versions, plus project files and archive handover.
